Three in a Line – Lucky Air Travel Days

Imagine. Boarding is almost over. The plane is half empty. It’s looking highly likely that you may end up with the entire row of seats where you’re sitting. The flight is a long haul and the difference in comfort would be obscene. People have stopped boarding and the stewardesses are beginning to wind things up for take off. It’s looking really good..
I was lucky enough to be in this situation quite recently on a very long flight.
It wasn’t just me either, a lady sitting in the opposite row was in exactly the same spot, and she knew it. We exchanged glances of increasing glee as we both realised we could be spending the whole flight with our own entire row of seats. A sign of the recession I suppose.
Now we exchanged glances of terror as the stewardesses walked back through the plane asking if anyone wanted an aisle seat. They were our aisle seats godammit. Please, don’t move people there. This went on for what seemed like forever.
As luck would have it, they didn’t and my companion and I swapped happy thumbs up signs as the take off routine began. We reached cruising altitude and set about making pillow lined chair nests for the journey ahead. Heaven.
